About Rowy McManus

I have always known I wanted to be a writer. In year three, eight-year-old Rowy was assigned to write a short story and hand it in by midday. Despite the clear instructions and firm emphasis on the word ‘short’ story, I produced a fifteen-page fictional tale about monsters living in the Egyptian pyramids. I merrily handed in my (not so) short story and learned two important things that day—teachers certainly don’t appreciate it when you cut into their lunchtime and, I had to keep writing. Since then, my journey to becoming a writer has been interesting. Like most students, I've juggled an array of fast-paced hospitality and retail positions while I studied for a degree in Professional Writing & Publishing at Curtin University. During my time at Curtin, I learned strong skills in writing for professional contexts, magazine features, blogs, and technical skills that include researching, proofreading, copywriting, and editing. Additionally, I also learned valuable lessons like the art of tailing students to find a free carpark on campus and that group assignments were greatly feared among all.
