Roxy Peterson. My name is Roxy Peterson - like Johnny Cash’s “A boy Named Sue” my Mum named me Roxy - she loved a band from the 1970s called Roxy Music and I guess you could say that I became one of their legacies. I was born and raised deep in the heart of multi-cultural East London on a Council Estate filled with diversity, art and a strong sense of community, where social capital, amongst neighbours, held equity with the British Pound – a cup of sugar went a long way. From a very young age I was encouraged to love and embrace being biracial and the entire cultural heritage associated with my mixed ancestry. I am of African American decent and and identify as mixed race.
