About Roy Bakker

During the previous years, I completed various forms of education which each shaped me in their own way. I started with my bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering & Management at Hogeschool Inholland Alkmaar. This phase strengthened my ability to analyze increasingly difficult problems within a firm and clearly communicate substantiated ways of improvement within different layers of the organization. After completing my bachelor I proceeded with a traineeship focused on entrepreneurship, called Traineeship Ondernemen. In this "train as you fight" environment I worked back to back with experienced entrepreneurs who mentored me in building my own company. Adapting to changing situations, learning new skills, and going out of my comfort zone are important traits I made my own during this period. I followed up my study career by finishing my study at Codam Coding College which gave me the perfect balance between a solid theoretical understanding of programming principles and functional use to solve diverse real-life problems. At Codam I worked on projects in C, C++, Assembly, HTML, CSS, Docker, and Kubernetes. In this job, I combined my abilities to analyze business processes with programming skills to create a viable solution for the client. It didn't stop there for me, I got the chance to get into the field of cybersecurity as a Security Engineer at Giant ICT, which I grabbed with both hands. There I focus on endpoint protection and vulnerability scanning. I contribute to the department to help fulfill its full potential we believe we can deliver to clients. Now I'm working at Nh1816 as a full stack developer where I strive to deliver value for our portal with new features and bugfixes.
