About Roy Jamieson

I've been a student, teacher, mentor and practitioner of communication for more than four decades. Working in the private, non-profit and public sectors, my primary areas of expertise include strategic communication planning, workplace communications, issue and crisis communication management, and media relations. After beginning my career as a broadcast journalist, and following a couple of years with a charitable organization, I worked for over two decades in communications management and policy and legislation for the Government of Canada, including at Canada Customs (now Canada Border Services) and Canada Revenue. I also served as a director of communications at Communications Nova Scotia, supporting multiple departments and agencies including Health and Wellness, Municipal Affairs and the Emergency Management Office. My academic background includes an undergrad degree in political science from the University of King's College and a graduate degree in public relations from Mount Saint Vincent University. I've served on the sessional faculty at the Mount since 2010. In 2025 I was honoured to receive the Alumni Teaching Award for part-time faculty.
