I am currently employed as a Senior Specialist, Coal & Coke Quality, by Elk Valley Resources. Glencore Plc purchased a majority interest in Teck’s Steelmaking Coal Business on July 11, 2024 and created Elk Valley Resources (EVR), part of the Glencore Group, one of the world’s largest diversified natural resource companies. Formerly worked as a Works, Sales & Marketing Manager for M-Tec Powder GmbH and based in South Africa. Preceding this role, I was working for Met Resources SA as a Technical Sales Manager on a consultancy basis. Prior to that placement, I worked as a Technical Sales/Marketing Manager for Africa’s sole producer of calcium carbide, SA Calcium Carbide Pty Ltd until it went into liquidation. Till early 2014, I was a Senior Chemical Engineer doubling also as Relief Production Manager for the world’s largest integrated steelworks, ArcelorMittal South Africa. I have a combined heavy metallurgical industrial experience in excess of 18 years and more than 8 years of tutoring experience at UNISA as an Independent Contractor majoring in Mathematics and Statistics. Extensive experience has been acquired in various areas including productivity and efficiency, Coke Batteries Technical Due Diligence, CAPEX and EM projects management, root cause analysis, tender documentation and evaluation, quality conformance monitoring, formulation of marketing objectives, investigation of customer complaints, supply chain management, customer relationships consolidation, writing of repair guidelines and procedures, optimisation of costs, diagnostic plant investigations, business development, training and development and drafting of critical equipment maintenance inspection lists, forecasting, budgeting and technical assistance to both domestic and export customers. At forty-six, I pride myself in dispensing all duties expected of me and going a step further in a professional, ethical and diligent manner. I believe in the values of integrity, fairness, accountability, respect and trust. I am a strategic thinker with strong team work ability and strong business acumen. I have a sound comprehension of the interaction of functionalities within a business climate honed from years of working for companies that have a global footprint. I am fluent in English, Zulu, Shona and Ndebele, both spoken and written, and can easily adapt to new environments.
