Background

About Ruben Michael Ceballos

The Ceballos Lab is a general microbiology and biochemistry research lab with emphasis on virus-host system dynamics and biotechnology. Over his career, Dr. Ceballos has secure more than $20 million in federal, state, and private funding to support his research and student training programs. He has authored a book, multiple peer-reviewed scientific publications, and is the inventor of record on a U.S. patent focused on using thermo- and acid-tolerant platforms to protect enzymes used in industrial and agricultural applications. Currently, he is the Project Director of the Host-Virus Evolutionary Dynamics Institute (HVEDI), a multi-million dollar, multi-institutional collaborative focused on elucidating the -omics substrates underlying virus-host evolutionary dynamics. The effort includes work in bacterial (e.g, cyanophage), archaeal (e.g, fusellovirus) and eukaryotic (e.g, roseolovirus) virus systems.
