About Ruby Angus

I have developed my C# skills while studying Computing Science at school and fostered a great love for the language. I have implemented object-oriented programming in my Advanced Higher project, as well as linking to an Access database and using advanced algorithms and data structures. I worked on a collaborative Python project as part of my college Teamworking unit. This, and my Advanced Higher project, have allowed me to develop my skills surrounding documentation. I have written detailed project scopes, wireframes, testing plans and UML-class diagrams. I was awarded the role of Head Girl due to my charisma and work ethic. Not only am I reliable and efficient, but I am also an effective communicator and work well with others as a leader or a team member. My success in balancing school, college and Head Girl duties is evidence that I can handle many responsibilities at once and thrive under pressure. I am interested in many things outside the tech industry such as the women’s and LGBTQ+ rights movements. I participated in a conference advocating for women in tech alongside management at Ayrshire College where I put forward my ideas and opinions surrounding the treatment of women in this line of study. I also set up and ran a successful LGBTQ+ and Equalities Club through which I have organised successful fundraisers, educational sessions, and a field trip to a queer bookshop. My contributions to these causes were recognised by East Ayrshire Council as I was awarded the 2023 East Ayrshire Youth Award for Diversity and Inclusion.
