About Ruby Bafu
Ruby Bafu is a PhD Candidate in Sociology at UW-Madison. Using digital ethnographic methods, I investigate how two online learning programs, one large and one a microschool, utilize unique strategies for educating and supporting the children they serve, particularly those who have been historically marginalized due to their race, gender, class, disability status, and other social factors. My previous research examines how Black girls’ educational experiences are framed in the media. When I'm not conducting research I enjoy bike riding, doing yoga, and making candles.
