About Ruby Collins

Ruby Collins is an American singer, songwriter, arranger, and producer, specializing in pop and R&B. Collins is a multi-instrumentalist and started a music school in Brooklyn, New York in 2007 called RCMusic Place. She teaches piano, guitar, ukulele, violin, cello, banjo, bass, and drums. In 1995 as a New York City police officer Ruby Collins performed in Washington DC for the Peace Officers Memorial day. A ceremony honoring police officers who have been killed in the line of duty. In attendance was former President Bill Clinton, then Senator Biden, and Grammy award winning singer Mariah Carey. Ruby performed the National Anthem and “Wind Beneath My Wings”. Ruby has also on the “Rosie O’Donnell Show, a television special “New Attitude” produced by the Lifetime Network and “Show Time at the Apollo.” Collins has prominently been featured in print articles including Essence Magazine and Marie Claire Magazine. Many of her influences are drawn from R&B, soul, jazz, folk, hip-hop and gospel. As a solo artist, her music is mostly categorized as fitting within the singer-songwriter. However, she also dabbles in pop, R&B, jazz, blues, adult contemporary and gospel sounds. Collins is also influenced by Whitney Houston, Joni Mitchell, Stevie Wonder, Lauryn Hill and Sam Cook. Ruby says she always knew music was her passion. She grew up singing in the Seventh Day Adventist church in Brooklyn, NY. Ruby continues to pursue her career as a professional singer/songwriter/musician/teacher reaching the hearts and souls of people through her music and doing what she absolutely loves to do best.
