Being a Māori nurse places me in a powerful position—one where I can walk confidently through all realms, from the clinical to the cultural, weaving connections that bridge whānau, community, technology and healthcare. Rooted in tikanga and guided by wairua, I move beyond the constraints of stigma and systemic barriers, using empathy and cultural intelligence as tools to uplift and empower. My role doesn’t end at the bedside; I bring people together through event planning, creating spaces that celebrate identity, promote hauora, and drive positive change. With skills in health advocacy, community engagement, leadership, coordination, and strategic planning—each one grounded in manaakitanga—I use my platform to influence, inspire, and innovate across all levels of society.
