About Ruby Sohi

I am a consummate professional with extensive experience in event production and marketing. I studied in the heart of London, England at City University, where I graduated in 2002 as a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Media Communication Systems. This led me to a career with various communication agencies, where I became proficient in project management for digital marketing and integrated campaigns. I have successfully delivered projects for HSBC, Disney, British Airways, IKEA and British Telecom. Since moving to Toronto in 2009, I launched an event management company and have delivered a variety of different corporate events including multi-city conferences, outdoor festivals, award ceremonies, fundraising galas and launch events to name a few. My clients include Kraft Canada, Queen’s University, TD and Radisson as well as numerous non-profit organisations and associations. I consider myself to be an active member of the community and was previously appointed Chair of the Young Professionals committee and Events committee for the Indo Canada Chamber of Commerce. Within a year of my involvement I was presented with the ‘Member of the Year’ award as a result of my commitment and contribution to their events. Subsequently, I became an elected Board Director serving as Director of Events for two years. During this time, I am proud to have initiated the Chamber’s first ever women’s event in support of International Women’s Day and spearheaded the overall strategy for getting more women involved with the organisation. In 2018, I was nominated for the RBC Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards and in 2020 was a finalist for the Event Professional of the Year award by the the Canadian Event Industry Awards. Actively involved in volunteer projects, I have served on the board as VP of Programming & Events for the American Marketing Association (Toronto) and as the VP of Marketing & Communications for the International Live Event Association (Toronto Chapter) and VP of Education for the Canadian Society of Professional Event Planners. I have also volunteered for the Sikh Foundation of Canada and their annual Sikh Centennial Gala. I am passionate about the event industry as well as the empowerment of women.
