About Ruby Weightman

I am incredibly passionate about bringing history to life and encouraging engagement with the heritage around us, with a particular interest in utilising conservation, outreach, and engagement. With a 1st class degree in Medieval and Early Modern Studies, my expertise spans history, archaeology, literature, and theology, with a particular focus on the social history of the built environment. I am currently working at Eltham Palace with English Heritage as Visitor Assistant, which includes public facing tasks such as sales and membership promotion. I also engage visitors through guided tours, public engagement, and social media storytelling, showcasing my research and communication skills. My role also involves conservation cleaning, handling historic objects, coordinating group bookings, and operational support. Additionally, I have experience as a youth worker, developing skills in education, accessibility, and inclusive engagement. I am particularly interested in making heritage more accessible, inclusive and engaging, using innovative approaches to interpretation, education, and audience development. Skilled in research, public speaking, digital engagement, and collections care, I am eager to contribute to projects that preserve and promote history for diverse audiences.
