About Ruby Yogi

Ever since I was in School, I always dreamed of having a career where I can contribute to the environment. I would always follow all Energy Efficiency and oil conservation efforts that were recommended to kids, like using a bicycle to commute, switching off lights and fans when you leave, saving water while bathing and brushing etc. Things around sustainability would fascinate me and I was a little Greta Thunberg in my head. In later years, I graduated in Chemistry from Jadavpur University, Kolkata. Looking for ways to advance my career, I revisited my Love and interest in the Environment and pursued an M.Sc. in Environment Management from Forest Research Institute (deemed) University, Dehradun. This opened me to the world of Environmental Consulting. I learned data collection and data analysis skills, required in the development sector, during my Internship at the Centre for Environment Education in Jaipur. I completed my master’s thesis during this internship. The internship experience paved my way to getting a job in a non-profit based out of Kolkata, SIGMA Foundation. I worked under the mentorship of Retd. IAS officer Dr. M. N. Roy. During my 2 years in the company, I gained a lot of experience in working as an environment professional in A Municipal Solid Waste Management Microplanning project by the State Urban Development Authority, West Bengal. The COVID-19 period ushered in a career break for me. I have again picked up from where I left off and working in Development Alternatives as Deputy Manager. I am currently engaged with two Department of Science and Technology, Government of India projects. I seek to grow as a professional to create greater impacts in the Environment and sustainability domain.
