About Rubyna Sheikh

How do we create a sustainable food supply chain? Who is developing and practising alternative land management methods to feed us and ensure our food security? These are the questions which are incredibly important right now and I’m dedicated to learning more about these subjects. Our futures depend on improving the quality of our soil, air and water through sustainable and progressive farming and in the process increasing the biodiversity of our farmed areas. I’m intrigued by the links between soil health, the nutritional value of our food and the effects on our own health. Always keen to learn more about these subjects, I’d love to connect with you if you’re in sustainable, regenerative food production, farming & nutrition, soil health or agroecology, particularly if you’re in the UK. There was no meaningful natural environment to experience or to inspire me. It was a second-hand book acquired when I was eight years old, that ignited my passion. This book detailed the flora and fauna of the British countryside. Written in rich prose, there were no pictures or illustrations. So my imagination formed everything that was described and unleashed my lifelong fascination with the natural world. My love, enthusiasm and interest in natural history have continued to grow and thrive. And yet I'm not a purist. I understand and appreciate the relationship between the working countryside, human needs and the environment that surrounds us. Occasionally, I am also an imaginary cosmologist. My skills include, but are not limited to, project and operations management, business administration, event management, social media planning and implementation, customer service management, and marketing. Professionally I am flexible and adaptable; efficient, consistent and organised; as enthusiastic for collaboration as for independent work. Most of all I thrive in an environment where I am actively contributing. In line with my passions, I am conducting a voluntary ecological survey with a local farmer, to enable him to increase biodiversity. I'm continuing my education in the field, literally and metaphorically, to increase and share my knowledge.
