About Rui Ribeiro

After a decade of collaborations as a filmmaker and video artist in many multidisciplinary art projects - Dance, Performance, Theatre, Visual Arts, Digital Art - in 2011 Rui joined Kintop, a Lisbon-based documentary production company, first as an editor and post-production supervisor and, from 2017 to 2021, as partner and producer. His first production,"ANYTHING AND ALL", world premiered at the Locarno Film Festival in 2018 and he was selected to IDFA Academy 2019 in Amsterdam, as an emergent film producer. During the past 7 years, Rui got involved as Producer or Executive Producer in the development, funding, production and distribution of many documentary feature projects, world premiered at Locarno IFF, Berlinale, IDFA, Visions du Réel, MoMA, and other prestigious international festivals and venues. He's currently working as an independent documentary producer, developing and producing a diversity of projects (creative documentaries and series, but also XR) at different production companies, focused on international co-productions. Sometimes he still edits documentary features, when the project is meaningful (and if asked very very gently). He was one of the 17 european documentary producers selected to the EMERGING PRODUCERS 2023 program of the Ji.hlava International Documentary Festival. Master degree in Technology and Digital Art by the Engineering School of the University of Minho. Lecturer (Film Production | Film History) at the University of Beira Interior. PhD candidate, Media Arts.
