About Rula A.

I specialise in building machine learning and tech products to keep people safe and smart online- MSc in Machine Learning from UCL. Focused on natural language processing, supervised and unsupervised learning, graphical models, human-computer interaction, and biomedical computational modelling- Thesis based on dataset of political manifestos from 1945 to 2016 to build an algorithm to predict the political bias of a text on a far-left to far-right spectrum with Prof Sebastian Riedel (UCL Machine Reading Group & Facebook AI Research)- Awarded EU grant to commercialise this project into various media transparency products- Significant product development experience from concept to launch in media, adtech and information spaces (using Python, Matlab). Python libraries: TensorFlow, Pytorch, Matplotlib, Pandas, NumPy, SciPy, Sci-kit Learn, NLTK, Gensim etc- Bilingual (English and Arabic)- Harvard Business School panel chair on the role of AI and Technology in the Fourth Industrial Revolution in 2019- Women in AI ( for which I am currently UK ambassador ). In the first 3 months of my role I built partnerships with Bloomberg to promote women in STEM.
