About Rumesh Ranjan

Namaskar. This is Rumesh Ranjan (Ph.D.), Maize Breeder, Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana. Currently my research is on early maturity of maize and focused on root traits that cope in water logging and water use efficiency in maize. I am also engaged in teaching activities with UG course i.e. Introduction to Plant Breeding and PG course i.e. Mutagenesis and Mutation Breeding. PhD was in Genetics and Plant Breeding from Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR-IARI), New Delhi, India under Netaji Subash ICAR- International Fellowship. Ph.D. dissertation was on“Genetic analysis & Identification of QTL’s influencing nitrogen use efficiency in wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)”. The Ph.D. research expertise me on conventional, physiological and molecular breeding and also helped to honor with many international awards and grant ( ICAR-IF 2015, IPNI scholar award-2016 and INEW for UK tour grant-2017). AS NUE is complex traits and handling with pooled of germplasm and generating and analyzing data was too interesting and laborious which build a good interpretation and statistical analyzer. Working with Monsanto India limited in Corn within different geographic of India and Nepal (2.5 years) as technology developer acclimatized to work in the multi-culture environment and problem seeker what farmers facing in farmland. Work in Cotton during MSc at CCSHAU, Hisar lead to an understanding with plant and its biology. Thanks.
