Rupert Wainwright A seasoned Chief Operating Officer and Programme Director, Rupert has over 20 years senior experience in the NHS, following an information and corporate performance career in international airports, the City and internet companies. Rupert has operated at national, regional, system and local levels in health and social care and is a skilled influencer, working with primary care, community services and local authorities. Rupert is Director at Zenon Consulting, is Prince 2 qualified and has led large programmes and projects to transform clinical pathways, re-open estate for more effective and imaginative purposes and to bring together disparate groups to become teams with a common imperative to deliver. Whether in the initial part of his NHS career with regional bodies and commissioners, or in the acute sector and wider system, the common theme has been co-creating and implementing out of hospital programmes. Examples include long-term conditions, especially diabetes and COPD, and on moving outpatient services to the care of non-acute professionals, such as opticians, community physiotherapists, GP based services and district nurses. As the pressures on non-elective services have increased he has worked closely between primary care, community providers, acute trusts and, most importantly, adult social care services. This focus on integrating teams to work to a common purpose has delivered joined up care that works for the frail elderly and their families. Brought in as a leader to turnaround patient care and grip to help move Trusts from inadequate to good ratings, or to make the difficult leap from good to outstanding, his skills lie in creating, directing and galvanising clear positive programmes, whilst working with different agendas and imperatives for stakeholders across the system.
