About Rusaila Bazlamit

I have a long outstanding experience in preparing and delivering courses in design, digital media, architecture, interior architecture, visual communication, and media and communication theories. I taught undergraduate and postgraduate students at leading universities in Australia and Jordan. As an early career researcher, I have an innovative emerging record of publications which include peer-reviewed journals, conference proceedings, theses, book chapters and exhibition’ publications as listed in my curriculum vitae. I am passionate about my research and how it can be developed further especially after my doctoral research. My ambition is to advance the concepts of design activism, spatial immersiveness impacting the built environment and the social context and digital heritage and representation of identities and histories of place. My research interests are in using digital, interactive media to create meaningful spatial and virtual experiences. I am interested in design activism and how design can improve and impact our lives socially, culturally, and personally. I am also interested in expanding my exploration and experimentation with game design technologies beyond the gaming industry and the use of XR technologies to create mediated spatial experiences in the built environment. I am also interested and work around themes of media culture and representations of disfranchised and under-represented people. I apply this interdisciplinary knowledge to my pedagogical practice to create and foster more inclusive spaces for people of marginalized backgrounds. I have my own creative practice called “Lab Tajribi |Experimental Expressions” As part of my practice, I worked on several projects which include interactive installations, utilization of game technology, graphic design, video editing and web design. My practice employs experimentation, with different tools, media, and modes of expression. Conceptually and thematically, I am interested in design activism, digital heritage, affective immersiveness, experiential spaces in the built environment, new museology, and politics of representations specially in digital and social media.
