About Russ Back

Development Director at Mud; a down-to-earth, digital-first web design agency based in Bath, UK. We create bold, engaging and brand-sensitive websites and applications for clients making positive changes in the world. I've been working as a developer for over 20 years, originally focussed on frontend development but over time becoming a full stack developer, and these days, working predominantly on bigger picture elements of projects such as solution design and systems integrations. I’ve run development teams within large corporations and within web agencies, and co-founded and led the development of a successful tech SaaS product. I joined Mud in the summer of 2023 as Development Director, where we primarily work with Craft CMS to deliver high quality bespoke website and ecommerce solutions, with well over 100 such sites built to date. Away from work you can find me out and about with the family, and in general just enjoying life outdoors. Mountain biking has been a passion of mine for many years now, and I regularly run to keep the fitness levels up. In winter you might find I’ve kept with the mountain theme but swapped the bike for a snowboard.
