About Russ Ludeman

With over 20 years in the U.S. Air Force as a Loadmaster, I’ve accumulated over flight hours and 500 simulator hours, honing my skills in both operations and leadership. My career began in the skies, managing critical airlift missions and coordinating personnel and cargo across diverse operations. Over time, I advanced into supervisory roles, managing teams, overseeing operations, and streamlining processes to enhance efficiency.For the last 15 years, I’ve supervised teams in high-stakes environments, and in the past two years, I’ve served as the Senior Leader of a flying squadron, responsible for 204 military and civilian personnel. In this role, I managed a $30M training budget, cutting certification time by 50% through targeted process improvements. One of the highlights of my career has been leading critical airlift operations, including the evacuation of refugees during the Afghanistan and Ukraine crises. These operations included the first in-flight refueling during embassy evacuations, required detailed planning and coordination. Under my leadership, our team increased mission efficiency by 75%, delivering results under immense pressure.In addition to managing daily operations, I’ve been deeply committed to mentoring and developing personnel. I’ve spent years creating and implementing training programs that accelerate learning and improve performance, ensuring our teams were always prepared for the next mission. Leading the development of a modernized training program, I worked with agencies like Air Mobility Command and Combat Air Forces to implement strategies that reduced aircraft operation fatigue and improved training accuracy for over 1,400 aviators.Throughout my career, I’ve balanced operational responsibilities with strategic planning, identifying and addressing bottlenecks to improve processes. Whether managing a $995M training simulator program I’ve consistently sought out ways to streamline operations and enhance efficiency. Redesigned of knowledge tests for aviators, improving assessment accuracy across 1,400 personnel.Now, as I transition from the military in January 2025 I’m seeking new opportunities in operations or training management, where I can apply my skills in strategic planning, process improvement, and team leadership. I’m particularly interested in roles that allow me to continue driving operational excellence while also providing time for my passions—sports, music, and boating/fishing.
