About Russell Harrison

Please allow me to introduce myself. I am a hardworking and accomplished individual looking for work in the healthcare industry as a caregiver companion. I have a long and varied life but I spent most of the past 20 years working as a systems analyst & application developer. The exception is when I took a 2-year professional sabbatical to train for and work as an Alberta Certified Healthcare Aide. In May 2015, I enrolled in an AB Healthcare Aide Certification program at the Academy of Learning College, graduating at the top of my class. Soon afterward I was able to secure employment in casual roles with the Alzheimer Society of Calgary as an activities program facilitator and with Intercare Group Inc. as a personal caregiver in one of their long-term care facilities (including significant time in the dementia unit). I was also able to work privately in a companionship role with an individual suffering from Alzheimer's disease. Sadly, I was forced to leave a work that I had come to love due to personal financial pressures and return to the IT industry. Happily, I now find myself in a position where finances no longer dictate my career choice and so I have decided to return to the work I love and that makes a difference by improving a persons life condition. Caring about others, hard-working, excellent communication skills, attention to detail, and a desire to deliver high-quality care are just some of my professional qualities. The unique combination of these professional qualities and my life and work experience makes me an excellent fit for any healthcare companion position.
