Background
About Russell Overton
I currently work as an Electronic technician but my passion is for transmitting the stories of the past and their legacy. Prior to my current position, I spent 8 years as a High School teacher with experience in ESE, Remedial Reading, and Social Studies as a lead teacher and department head. In addition to the classroom experience, for the past 24 years, I developed and participated in living history demonstrations and lectures at historical sites and societies, public libraries, and special events. This knowledge and effort led to a role as a naval artillery historical advisor for the Academy Award nominated Peter Weir film Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. In this third phase of my life, my desire is to find a way to positively impact my society utilizing my work experience, education, and passion to provide academic enrichment that the social sciences can provide in this ever changing world.
