About Rusty Meigs

Rusty is in his eleventh year at Oracle Health (Cerner) where he currently works as a team lead and learning instructor for the Client Education Department. He teaches numerous build and maintenance courses surrounding Cerner Millennium’s electronic medical record solutions including Millennium Fundamentals; Emergency Medicine: Enhanced Tracking Shell, Activity/Event Integration, ED LaunchPoint; MPages; Nursing Architect Program; Open Engine; PowerForms, PowerForm Advanced; PowerOrders; and IView. With over 17 years of teaching in the public schools as well as two decades of teaching in higher education at Baker University, MNU, Ottawa University, and Rockhurst University, he continues to teach for graduate programs. Before coming to Oracle Health, he served as the Senior Web Architect for the Olathe Public Schools where he oversaw Web services for the district. He successfully developed over 120 Web themes automating district and school sites using Open Source technology saving the district hundreds of thousands of dollars annually where his passion was helping educators utilize technology to successfully impact student learning. He holds an earned doctorate in educational leadership from Baker University, holds both a Master's degree in education and a Bachelor's degree in K-12 education from MidAmerica Nazarene University, as well as an Associate of Science degree in computer systems technology from Johnson County Community College. Rusty has won several awards and distinctions for his research in technology and education over the years including getting published in the Journal of Computing Teachers—an ISTE publication, being inducted into the Baker University School of Education Wall of Honor, getting published in the Kansas teacher education journal known as The Advocate, being elected to the Board of the Association of Teacher Educators in Kansas, and winning the Statewide Distinguished Dissertation in Teacher Education Award in 2010. He conducted his clinical research study examining the technology practices of teachers grades Pre-K through 12. Additionally, he served in the “At Large” position on the Louisburg USD #416 School Board from 2011 to 2015.
