About Ruth Amir

Dr. Ruth Amir is Chair of the Department of Multidisciplinary Social Sciences, and a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Political Science and the Graduate Program in Public Administration and Policy at Yezreel Valley College. From 2009 until 2014 she chaired the Department of Multidisciplinary Social Sciences, and from 2011 she was Director of the Galilee Center for Studies in Jewish-Christian Relations, and until 2023, Chairperson of the Executive Committee. Ruth's main areas of research include power relations and institutions, collective violence, and genocide with a focus on genocidal forcible child transfer, transitional justice, and historical redress. Her first book, co-authored with Asher Arian and Dave Nachmias, Executive Governance In Israel, was published in 2002 by Palgrave. Her other books include: Who is Afraid of Historical Redress? The Israeli Victim-Perpetrator Dichotomy (2012); The Politics of Victimhood: Historical Redress in Israel; her co-edited volume with Pnina Rosenberg, Critical Insights: The Diary of a Young Girl, Anne Frank, was published in 2017 by Salem Press. Her latest book: Twentieth Century Forcible Child Transfer: Probing the Boundaries of the Genocide Convention was published in 2019 with Lexington Books.
