About Ruth Dutton

In June of 2019, I began a new chapter of life, after founding and leading two TK-8 public charter schools, Sycamore Valley Academy and Blue Oak Academy in Visalia, CA, which offer project-based learning and "gifted ed for all." In the 2019-20 year, I was a founder of a brand new TK-8 public charter school, Clovis Global Academy in Clovis, CA, which opened in August, 2020 and offers dual language immersion (Spanish/English, 50/50 model), also through project-based learning. At the same time, since 2019, I have consulted with 8 other charter schools/ networks to support their organizational health and sustainability through my consulting firm, Ruth Dutton Consulting, LLC, on a variety of issues including conducting compensation studies, turning around a toxic work environment, grant writing services, leadership coaching, board development, grant writing and management, and other charter management consultation. As an advocate for public schools to be responsive to public needs, I continue to push for improvement in the way we think of education, and the way we engage learners, as a consultant to schools and nonprofits, and a site administrator.
