Background

About Ruth Gamble

Ruth has performed comedy at UCB, The Second City, iO, iO West, The Second City Hollywood, UCBTLA, and on Funny or Die. She's thrown out an opening pitch at a Pirates game, was a back up dancer for Neil Young, and loves farming. For seven years, she performed sketch comedy with The Animal Club at festivals in Chicago, San Francisco, NYC, Seattle, Miami, Pittsburgh, and at Caroline's on Broadway. She was also on The Chorus Harold team at iO Chicago. Since moving to LA, she's acted in her first pilot, directed her first short film, written her first commercial (for Re-Bath), and produced her first testimonial video starring Felicity Huffman and Susan Rattan. That's a very specific first. She is currently the obnoxious voice of Effie Trinket in the audio drama The Katniss Chronicles and the tiny voice of Demi, a little cartoon ballet slipper, on Miss Melodee's new album. She has also been in a national Wendy's commercial, two commercials for Bloom Grocery, and co-hosted 50 webisodes for Roadtrip McDonalds. Her short films have been in the Austin International Film Festival, Short Shorts in Japan, & Raindance in London. She loves the stage and has performed at the New York Fringe Festival and with Pittsburgh Musical Theatre. She’s been in Equity productions at Quantum Theatre, barebones productions, and the Playhouse Repertory Theatre. She was listed as one of the best actresses of 2013 by the Pittsburgh Post Gazette. And her name was recently printed on the inside cover of the play The Electric Baby, published by Dramatists Play Service, for originating the role of Rozie. Ruth is from South Carolina and Arizona and earned her degree in Musical Theatre from the Conservatory of Performing Arts at Point Park University in Pittsburgh. In Chicago, she studied improv and sketch comedy at iO, The Second City, and The Annoyance. In LA, she has studied at Monkey Butler and iO West. She also writes about food & healing at TheWholeRuth.com
