About Ruth Joy Michaelis

Ruth Michaelis is a practicing family physician working at HealthPoint Community Health Center for 21 years where she has serves as the Clinical Director of Academic Education Programs. She also works as the Regional Director of Medical Education for AT Still University's School of Osteopathic Medicine in Arizona (ATSU/SOMA) where she helped develop the school's innovative curriculum. The medical school embeds their students in the CHC for 3 years where they work in an interdisciplinary environment with family medicine mentors, behavioral health, pharmacy, dental, and complimentary integrative health. She is a certified teacher in the Narrative Enneagram Tradition, and she uses these skills with her students and coworkers. She completed the Association of Integrative Health in Medicine (AIHM) 2-year fellowship where she fell in love with lifestyle medicine and subsequently chose that as her focus. She became a diplomat for the American Board of Lifestyle medicine in December and is working on integrating lifestyle into her CHC. She recently expanded her behavioral change skills through the Wellcoaches training. She is passionate about practicing mindfulness and lifestyle coaching techniques with patients and clients. She especially enjoys inspiring learners toward the path of lifestyle medicine and underserved care.
