About Ruth McCabe

I am working in this industry for 10 years. My passion for sport started at an early age where I competed with local athletic clubs. I learned many disciplines in track & field and ultimately concentrating on the Javelin where I competed at national level. I have won club, county and national medals at this event. I was selected for trials for the Irish team when I was 17 but due to injury I withdrew from my sport. This is where my passion for learning about injuries developed. I wasn’t happy with the outcomes from many consultations and felt the need to have a better understanding of the human body and how I could help myself and eventually help others recover from injury and to excel in their sport. I eventually returned to my sport coaching young athletes in the Javelin and taking on the longer distances completing 3 marathons and many 5k, 10k and half marathons. Having a number of qualifications under my belt I felt I was still missing some expertise in my development. I’m currently enrolled in Year2 of a 3 year BSc(Hons) in SportsTherapy. I am registered as a student sports therapist with The Society of Sports Therapists. Im a qualified Neuromuscular Therapist (NTC) Myofascial Trigger Point Needling Therapist (NTC), Physiotherapy Assistant (Portobello Institute). Certified Kinesio Taping Technician & Studied Manipulative Therapy In Manchester with Cameron Reid.
