About Ruth Sant

I am Ruth, a Full-Time Air Traffic Controller who is absolutely in love with her job. I have been an avid aviation enthusiast ever since I was a young girl. I started off my aviation education when I was just 15 years old, where I enrolled in an Aviation Induction Course with Malta School of Flying. This was a basic course covering general subjects later studied in the Private Pilot License, and also in the ATC License Ab-Initio Training. Successfully passing this course further piqued my interest in aviation. In the meantime, I continued my studies in Software Development, and started working towards graduating in that area, always having aviation at the back of my mind. After graduating and working Full Time in IT for a while, I started studying for my Private Pilot's License on the side. I achieved my Private Pilot License in May 2017. Around a year after, I applied for an Air Traffic Controller Position with MATS, and was successful throughout the selection process and the training which was done in CANI - Prague. This was my first experience living and studying abroad, and I also happened to fall in love with the city! I became a Tower Rated Controller in November 2020. I love being an Air Traffic Controller, the complexities and dynamics of the job is very intriguing to me. I have fulfilled my dream of working in Aviation. Working in this Industry is extremely interesting and I am always keen to learn and get deeper into this Industry. Apart from all the aviation jargon, I am an avid reader and a music lover. I love hiking, and discovering new things and places. I am in awe of nature. I play and study the guitar, and have studied the violin for half my life. I also enjoy writing, mainly poetry. I love thinking outside the box, and finding better ways to emphatise, level and find common grounds with people.
