About Ruwan Gamage
Dr Ruwan Gamage is a University lecturer in Library & Information Science, interested in social dynamics in librarianship, actively promoting the profession and its underlying concepts. He is a Senior Lecturer in Library Science at the National Institute of Library and Information Sciences (NILIS), University of Colombo. He is currently on sabbatical leave serving as a Senior Lecturer at the Maldives National University, Male, Maldives. He was the President of the Sri Lanka Library Association (SLLA) during 2020/2021 and the Chair of the South Asia Chapter of the Association for Information Science and Technology (ASIS & T) during 2021/2022. Ruwan is moderating an extensive network of Sri Lankan librarians on Facebook. It started as a Yahoo Group in 2004 and was continued until Yahoo shut down the 'Y Groups' project in 2019. Through this project, Ruwan and other members of the group voluntarily share information on librarianship and initiate discussions on various topics interesting to librarians.
