About Ryan Ball

I’m a recent graduate from the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology where I studied both Digital Media & IT (under the Software Development diploma stream) and later achieved a Post-Diploma Certificate for Cybersecurity. Since then, I have been working towards closing knowledge gaps in terms of networking and learning more about best cybersecurity practices. I have always been interested in learning more about technology, whether it is picking apart and troubleshooting hardware, coding software, or best practices on keeping systems secure.During my studies for the Digital Media & IT diploma, I was granted the “Jason Lang Scholarship Award” for academic excellence and high standing. I gained experience working with Microsoft SQL, MySQL, C#, ReactJS, HTML & CSS and gained experience working on a team for the final project working with a client following SCRUM methodologies. Utilizing the sprint planning process after requirements gathering from the client, we employed MySQL, ReactJS, and NodeJS as architecture for a job tracking tool for the client and a front-end company website, in which our team’s project was selected while also preparing technical documentation.While studying Cybersecurity, I gained experience examining a company’s security posture through the usage of risk/vulnerability assessments and management, penetration testing and keeping an up-to-date and ranked asset inventory. I also studied IT Service Management and ITIL practices, IT administration practices regarding general Active Directory or firewall practices and ways to secure it, as well as policies, procedures, and incident response/disaster recovery plans.Visit my portfolio website: https://ryanb1214.github.io
