About Ryan Bradley
I am a geomorphologist fascinated by how Earth’s surface is shaped by nature and humans. My training is in process fluvial geomorphology with a focus on fluid dynamics, sediment transport, and sedimentology. My approach to research and applied geosciences is decidedly quantitative, using a combination of field data, numerical modelling, and experimental methods. My primary research focus has been on the dynamics of large sand-bed rivers, but I contribute to a range of research examining morphologic controls of bedrock canyons, bedforms in gravel-bedded rivers, and bedload sediment transport. I am currently working to incorporate sand dune dynamics into numerical flood models and build a sediment budget for the Fraser River. Through my applied work, I activity participate in assessments of fluvial hazards, sediment transport, scour, deposition, and long-term degradation in rivers to help find practical and novel solutions to complex geoscience and engineering problems.
