About Ryan Brightwell

I'm currently Deputy Director at BankTrack, where I've worked since 2012, and lead our human rights work. This is focused on campaigning for banks to fully meet their responsibility to respect human rights, and on advocating for accountability and justice on behalf of people affected by bank-financed projects and companies. I'm also proud to be on the board of Recourse (re-course.org), a civil society organisation that targets development finance to campaign for a world where people and planet are at the heart of development. And I'm a founding director and communications lead for the Customer Union for Ethical Banking (saveourbank.coop), the innovative co-operative union for customers of The Co-operative Bank in the UK. I live in Nijmegen, The Netherlands, For a couple of years I worked as a consultant on sustainable finance, and prior to that I lived in Manchester and worked in The Co-operative Group's Sustainability Team (2006-2012) and for Datamonitor as a Consumer Markets Analyst (2002 - 2006). Apart from that I worked for a stint in Bolivia in 2004 as a volunteer research consultant for a network of micro- and small businesses.
