About Ryan Bui

As a Senior Architectural Technologist - Accessibility Specialist with over 7 years of experience in accessibility consultation services, I have developed a deep understanding and commitment to upholding the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act and the Ontario Human Rights Code’s duty to accommodate. My expertise extends to the needs of universal design, and providing valuable feedback to clients and stakeholders on potential issues, consequences, and risks associated with accessibility. I graduated from Sheridan College's Architectural Technology program and joined DesignABLE Environments in the Fall of 2015. Since then, I have developed a strong understanding of barrier-free and universal design, working on various projects of varying size, scope, occupancy, and complexity. In my role, I lead drawing reviews, updated accessibility standards and illustrations, and provided consultation to ensure accessibility considerations have been provided for persons with disabilities on a wide range of projects, including transit facilities, healthcare facilities, educational facilities, and commercial office buildings. As the primary point of contact for accessibility building audit for the company, have conducted numerous accessibility building audits and put together comprehensive recommendation plans for various organizations across Ontario, including hospital facilities, government facilities, and educational institutions. I possess extensive knowledge in developing Facility Accessibility Design Standards (FADS) using Microsoft Word and InDesign, to not only provide expert guidance on accessibility implementation for physical disabilities, cognitive disabilities, and people with environmental sensitivities, but to ensure that the documents being developed are fully accessible formats. With my expertise in project management, ability to interpret complex drawings and specifications, educational background in building science, and in-depth understanding of the Ontario Building Code (OBC), I have been a valuable asset to my team. Additionally, I have been committed to enhancing my skills in AutoDesk Revit modeling, creating Revit Families, AutoCAD drafting, and generating CAD Blocks, ensuring my proficiencies are always up-to-date.
