About Ryan Byrnes

I’m a full stack developer with aspirations of scaling happiness by increasing accessibility to life changing ideas, information, products, and services. Sports and fitness have always been passions of mine. I’ve sought out ways to improve my own athletic performance for as long as I can remember, which influenced my decision to study kinesiology at the undergraduate and graduate levels. As I advanced through my degree programs, I would often think to myself, “Wow, I really wish I knew this when I was a young athlete.” I had finally found all the information my younger self always wanted. It may have been too late to apply much of what I learned to my own competitive athletic career, but I knew there had to be other athletes who, just like my younger self, have searched tirelessly for ways to improve their performance. Following this realization, my mission shifted from seeking information to change my own athletic career, to helping others change their own. I initially thought the best way to do this would be as a strength and conditioning coach, however, I soon realized if I wanted to help all athletes, I would need to find a way to expand my reach far beyond in person coaching. I decided to create a website providing free strength and conditioning resources specifically targeting youth coaches and athletes. This website was my first introduction to code, and I was immediately hooked. It seemed as though anything that could be envisioned, could be created using code. I knew that if I learned to code, not only could I use these skills to expand my reach and enact my change, but I could help others do the same. After an attempt to learn to code on my own, I was eager to expedite the process, so I enrolled in the three month full immersion Web Development program at LearningFuze. During the full immersion program, I devoted 10-12 hours a day to learning technologies and tools such as HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, React.js, Node.js, Git, and more. I then used what I learned to build projects in a simulated work environment. I am proud of the strides I’ve made in my journey to become a web developer and am confident in my ability to contribute my skills to any development team, but my journey is far from over. I look forward to bringing my skills to a great company with a mission that resonates with me while continuing to grow, both as a professional, and an individual.
