About Ryan Candelario

Ryan currently works as a literacy consultant with a wide range of educators across the country to strengthen reading and writing instruction. He provides professional development in analyzing and utilizing student data along with standards to develop curriculum and strengthen teaching methods. Ryan presents at institutes, holds workshops, and provides on-site professional development for a variety of schools and districts. Before working as an independent consultant, Ryan spent five years working for the Teachers College Reading and Writing Project providing onsite professional development on reading and writing workshop to schools across the country. Prior to this work, he received his master’s degree from the Teachers College of Columbia University as a Literacy Specialist. Ryan began his career by teaching primary and upper elementary grades at a wonderful elementary school in California for six years. Ryan believes in literacy for all students and works to support educators towards that goal. Whether it is working side-by-side teachers and students or presenting at an institute of educators, Ryan grounds his work with current literacy research.
