About Ryan Carlson

I have a degree in astrophysics — but instead of staring at the stars, I chose to help people chase them on trails, roads, and mountains. After pivoting from science to run specialty and outdoor retail, I’ve spent the past few years building community, leading events, and partnering with brands to connect people with gear that gets them outside and moving. I’ve worked at the intersection of marketing, customer experience, and product knowledge — but what really drives me is the data behind the gear: how inventory, planning, and sell-through strategy shape what ends up in someone’s hands (or on their feet). Now I’m looking to grow into a merchandising or planning role where I can combine my analytical background with on-the-ground consumer insight. I want to help outdoor footwear and apparel brands make smarter product decisions, align inventory with demand, and deliver meaningful product assortments. Whether it’s product storytelling, performance data, or inventory strategy — I’m here for it. Especially when it helps people get outside and feel prepared, confident, and connected to the gear they wear.
