About Ryan Clark

I started in industry work at the age of 19 welding aluminum structural platforms. Through this job I went to school at BCIT in Burnaby Canada and completed my journeyman welding ticket. Soon after I wrote the interprovincial exam and received my red seal at the age of 21. I proceeded to trave western Canada working in pulp mills, refineries, power generation, ship yards and pressure vessels, etc. trying to learn as much of my trade as possible. This was all done rough various building trades unions in the 3 western provinces. later on in this part of my career I was often a leader and started understanding the other phases of the project lifecycle other than just execution, monitoring, controlling, and close out. When I started working with Suncor I was purview to more if the initiating and planning phases. being a new plant and having to constantly be agile to maintain a balance between maintenance and upgrades there was various PMBOK related practices and procedures implemented: Gantt charts and daily schedule meetings, weekly "sprint" meetings to determine the work for the next iteration, material management facility utilizing kan-ban, integrated change control processes, SAP maintenance management software deterring float days and critical patch. The more I studied the more I realized the project management world I was in. I enrolled in the Project Management Extension Certificate at Mount Royal University and graduated with an A average. i am currently studying to write my PMP certification exam through PMI."
