About Ryan Donovan-Schager

I am a master's student in the Physiological Sciences GIDP at the University of Arizona with a strong passion for women's health and the connection between basic science and clinical research. My current research focuses on the gut microbiome in pre- and post-menopausal mice and its relationship to cardiovascular disease (CVD). By exploring these complex interactions, I aim to uncover critical insights that can contribute to reducing health disparities among women. Additionally, I work with a team to investigate smoking cessation in black women with a special emphasis on hormonal contributions and sex differences. We aim to uncover equitable treatment options while focusing on differences in care currently provided versus what is most optimal. In my studies, I combine rigorous scientific methods with a deep commitment to advancing women's health. My goal is to translate these research findings into clinical applications that can improve health outcomes and quality of life for women. Upon graduation, I aspire to pursue a career in clinical research, where I can continue to address and mitigate health disparities in women's health. Through my academic journey and professional aspirations, I am dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the field of women's health and contributing to the broader understanding of physiological sciences.
