About Ryan Drescher

Story is the heart of humanity; the universal medium through which we connect, learn, and grow. I am a Vancouver-based, Alberta-born, lifelong writer and filmmaker looking to take my experience to a broader range of fields. 8 years of on-set experience spanning multiple technical departments, and training in post-production. Through my production company, Dark Sails Films, I have experience in all of the stages of film and video production, with experience creating digital content in multiple mediums. A graduate of the University of Calgary's Bachelor of Arts with a Major in English and a minor in Film Studies, I honed my skills volunteering at NUTV, the university's student television network, where I served as an editor, camera operator, writer, and director, as well as a term in the tole of Associate Producer. I also volunteered as an Executive of the Scribe and Muse English Club, where I managed the club's Writer's Circle, and the Peer Revision service. Following graduation, I completed SAIT's Film and Video Production diploma, while continuing to write and direct, and edit short films outside of class.
