About Ryan Dudschus

I graduated from the University of California, Santa Cruz with a M.S. in physics with a concentration in condensed matter, along with a B.S. in physics, with honors, and a minor in mathematics as well. My M.S. thesis was with Professor Frank “Bud” Bridges researching the properties of a Hidden Order (HO) phase transition in the heavy-fermion material URu2Si2, which takes place around 17.5 K. I have also conducted research with Professor Puragra Guhathakurta that focused on detecting pulsating variable stars in the Andromeda galaxy. I also worked in the Physical and Biological Sciences department as a demoroom lab assistance, where I created and maintained demonstrations for lectures, laboratories, and other settings to help advance the knowledge of physics to others. My interest in physics is what drives me to understand why and how the universe behaves the way it does, to the best of my abilities. I am currently working at Covalent Metrology as a Metrology Engineer in their FIB-SEM division analyzing surface topology, defects, and elemental composition across a wide variety of samples, as well as lamella preparation for TEM analysis.
