About Ryan Dwight

Hello, My name is Ryan Dwight and I'm currently a senior studying Information Science with a focus on cybersecurity at University of Maryland and Fullstack's Cyber Bootcamp. I've been preparing for a career in cybersecurity since high school, learning various programs like Java and Python, and have dedicated my studies to the various aspects of cybersecurity both technical and interpersonal with the goal of becoming a penetration tester or cyber policy analyst. I was drawn to the field by the ever evolving and increasingly important nature of the field as well as the problem solving aspects of the work. While studying at UMD I've also found a love for the interpersonal and human approach to cybersecurity after taking courses on cybersecurity for policy makes and human-centered cybersecurity. Those who've worked with me have described me as smart, hard-working and more than competent. I can work well with anyone and am a quick learner. Currently I am looking for an entry-level position as a penetration tester or human-centered position within the field of cybersecurity where I can continue to expand my skillset. I would prefer to work in a hybrid or remote setting but am fully ready for an in-person position. Beyond my pursuits in cyberspace I have loved the outdoors since I was a child. My first job was at the summer camp I went to as a kid and I've spent the past year working at UMD's Adventure Program, leading adventure trips. Outside of my work I spend my weekends hiking and kayaking.
