About Ryan E. Henry
Broadly trained biologist with 20+ years of research experience, including 10+ years in pharma/biotech, with a strong background in molecular and cellular biology, target ID/validation, in vivo pharmacology and significant experience in small-molecule and ADC drug discovery. I have extensive leadership and managerial experience with a proven record of success mentoring direct reports and guiding large project teams. Since 2018, I have led H3 Biomedicine’s first ADC program from early discovery to delivery of the clinical candidate, driving our overall strategy, generating data and managing a multidisciplinary internal team, including several CROs. I have also led the in vivo pharmacology work for two small-molecule discovery projects, contributing to the selection of a clinical candidate for one program and a lead series for another. During my career, I have gained expertise in NHR, RTK, and death receptor signaling, p53 tumor suppressor biology, apoptosis regulation, eukaryotic gene transcription, chromatin/epigenetic biology, microRNA biology, and much more. I have always conducted my science with the highest rigor, leading to several solid publications and termination of work based on experimental artifacts or lack of robust data. My collective experiences have taught me that successful discovery and development campaigns are rigorously planned but continuously challenged by the data. There should be a clear line-of-sight between target selection and the clinic, with differentiation, patient selection and clinical development strategies built in from the beginning. I believe in a target/biology-driven approach to drug discovery paired with data-driven selection of the right modality to deliver the greatest efficacy and safety profiles possible. In my next role, I want to bring all my experience and passion to both lead and learn from a team that is committed to discovering new therapies and bringing them to the clinic.
