About Ryan Englander
I am currently an MD/PhD candidate at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine where I am studying to become a hematologist/oncologist engaged in translational research aimed at developing new therapeutic interventions for the treatment of late-stage cancers. I received my Bachelor's in Science with concentration in Molecular and Cell Biology and Chemistry and my Master's in Science with a concentration in Genetics and Genomics from the University of Connecticut-Storrs in 2014. During that time, I co-founded a company, Vitalyx LLC, that is seeking to leverage new gene editing technologies like CRISPR/Cas9 for the personalized treatment of cancer. In the laboratory, I have studied the immune response to cancer vaccines and developed new gene editing tools using synthetic biology approaches. This summer, I will be working at the Jackson Laboratory to investigate the potential of using next-generation sequencing data of patient tumors to develop targeted, personalized immunotherapies for cancer patients.
