About Ryan Grimm

Highly experienced Social Science and Education Researcher with over 14 years of experience and skilled in research design, data analysis, program evaluation, and translating statistical findings into actionable recommendations for stakeholders. Strong research professional with a PhD in Special Education and MA in Quantitative Research Methodology from University of California, Santa Barbara. Self-starter able to identify gaps/needs, develop a research agenda to address them, and apply advanced statistical analyses to find solutions. Highly experienced in communicating statistical results using clear language and translating them into actionable recommendations to multiple stakeholder groups. Extensive experience in cross-collaboration in both industry and academic settings. I have successfully worked with product developers, practitioners, and researchers in both settings. This work has led to multiple classrooms and schools adopting products for long term use and 30 journal articles in top-tier peer-reviewed journals and many presentations at national and international conferences. I have led and co-led multi-million dollar research projects since 2016. While at SRI, my research has included projects examining how to effectively use technology to improve students' educational outcomes, including novel research stemming from the pandemic. Specifically, I led a project focusing on identifying best practices in how technology can be used to remotely assess and deliver services to children with disabilities. I am particularly skilled at communicating complex statistical findings to multiple audiences using clear and concise language. I am especially adept at translating complex statistical findings into easy-to-digest language for non-technical audiences both verbally and in written reports. While at SRI, I have been led many complex quantitative analyses and consistently received praise for my ability to succinctly and clearly explain the findings to project leaders. Additionally, while completing my PhD, I taught multiple lab sessions for graduate-level statistics courses for three years and received >98% positive ratings from students.
