About Ryan Hanson

Since graduating from film school I've been driven towards writing and directing. I've completed several short films that have done really well and am currently in production on my third short. I'm also working on a feature length script. My first film was funded by the National Screen Institute and my second was an Ontario Arts Council funded project. I'm extremely passionate about enhancing the Canadian film industry. We have so much talent right here in Canada and it's my dream to see that talent recognized and celebrated. I hope that through my work, and by supporting other Canadian independent filmmakers we can create a sustainable community right here at home. In January 2012 I was awarded the A&E Short Filmmaker's award for my most recently completed short film,"The Quarry". Most recently, my film "The Escapement" won Best Director and Best Actor at the Interplay Film Festival in Alberta.
