I’ve worked in Health & Safety for over 20 years, with the majority of this time spent in the Stone industry, a high risk working environment. The last two years in H&S have proven to be my favourite to date, working in a challenging Port industry environment, and the challenges faced with Covid-19. We've formed a strong H&S team that's made a huge progress within the company and the benefits have been massive. I've also learnt the most in this short time and achieved some well deserved qualifications along the way. I spent a number of years working on-board ships, dealing with ships watertight doors, ships gangways, on-board fire drills and I was responsible for the MES (Marine Evacuation System) on-board, ensuring that 800 Cruise Ship passengers and crew were safely evacuated from the ship in an emergency, part of my emergency evacuation procedures while working for Princess Cruises (Worldwide). I’ve continuously looked at new ways to improve policies, processes and procedures (H&S Management Systems), being business focused I’ve been able to improve safety, save costs, achieve new financial gains, maximise production (stone industry), and improve the overall efficiently of the company helping to take it forward as a whole. Working with individual employees over the years, I’ve been able to help them improve their own skills and progress as an employee. I've successfully managed different sized teams, using skills of various employees to achieve company’s success. With qualifications and experience in Strategic Marketing I’ve been able to also put these skills into H&S to help me analyse process, systems and procedures, whereby identifying areas where improvements can be made, and making recommendations to improve these areas which help achieve the organisations overall goals.
