About Ryan Koontz

I'm employed full time as a Deputy Director of Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement, Senior Lead Auditor and Responsible NDT Level at Amentum Aviation. Before that I was an Aircraft Maintenance Supervisor and before that, a Quality Assurance Rep, inspecting T6 training aircraft for DynCorp/US Navy. Part time I have my own Aircraft Maintenance Business, inspecting (IA) a variety of airframes, to include: McDonald Douglas, Hughes, Sikorsky and Robinson Helicopters, Cessna, Piper, Partenavia, Beechcraft and Mooney aircraft, to name a few. I am also VP of Diaz Koontz Accounting here in Pensacola and own it with my wife. Trust me, she's definitely the brains behind that one. I've been in some branch of the military since 1988, doing either aviation, aircrew or intelligence jobs and have an active Top Secret SCI Clearance now. In the past, I've been Director of Aircraft Maintenance over a Part 135 Charter Service (3 yrs) and a Part 141 Flight School with a Navy IFS contract (5 yrs). I have a Pilot's License, a Professional Flight Engineer (turbo prop) Certificate, a Drone Pilot's (UAS) License, an Airframe and Power plant License (A&P) and an Inspection Authorization (IA). My NDI Level Cert is current in four methods: UT, ET, PT and MT. I've been involved in Flight Test programs (as a Flight Engineer and Technician), I have flown Fire fighting missions as a Flight Engineer, I've flown Cargo for State Dept missions overseas and I've been qualified as an Aerial Sensor Operator. I have been involved in Straight Civilian, Straight Military, Military Contract, Government Contract, Corporate, Cargo, Firefighting and ISR Operations and Maintenance. I'm heavily involved in small UAS operations, Aerial Photo/ FMV and have a Drone Pilot (UAS) License
