About Ryan Linerud

Research Assistant studying human-robot interaction with Jacob Crandall at Brigham Young University. Using ROS, we communicate with a FETCH Robot to test and build high level planning algorithms to solve contextual bandit problems. These algorithms allow robotic systems to be trained using minimal data, with minimal real-time processing. Experience in complex algorithms such as Monte Carlo simulation, PPO, markov decision processes, and more. Previous Research Assistant studying additive manufacturing at Brigham Young University, working with designing and machining parts, modifying and assembling electrical components, and writing code to run modified machines. President of the BYU Mechatronics advanced team, where we design future projects for the rest of the club and create projects to build interest in robotics around campus and enter into competitions. Recently the team took 1st place in the first Space Dynamics Laboratory SpaceBot competition, building a prototype satellite with the ability to repair an orbiting satellite. Mechanical engineering student with a minor in computer science to emphasize robotics and Mechatronics. Years of experience in microcontroller i.e. Arduino, raspberry pi, PIC boards, etc. Experienced in 3D design and printing, with experience in SolidWorks and Autodesk Inventor.
